Let's start with something simple that has haunted me all my days. I can't make chocolate covered strawberries. I follow the instructions on the chocolate, and it's NEVER smooth! I don't understand. I can do so many things! I promise! Why can't I do this?! I at least tried to detract from their ugliness by painting them with fourth of July crap. Nope. Didn't work. Still ugly.
Next up, I made this tray out of an old cheap black picture frame. I really like how it turned out, but in all reality I just slapped on some metallic acrylic paint, attempted to freehand a lace pattern, and hot glued the shit out of the glass so it wouldn't fall out of the bottom of the frame. I'm still trying to figure out what to do so the glass doesn't buckle when I set something heavy on it. Or maybe just not set anything heavy on it. But that's too easy. Ideas?
Oh, upholstery. I've reupholsted a few things in my day. Well, if you can call it reupholstery. I mostly just stretch fabric, tuck ends in, and use a ton of hot glue and a prayer. Funny story about this one. I didn't buy enough fabric-because I don't have the foresight to measure anything- so I had to cut it in half. That ribbon down the center is a total improvisation to hide the seam on the two fabric panels. It still needs some work to make it more sturdy (read: extra hot glue) but I think it turned out pretty cute, right? Spade seems to be enjoying it, at least.
Last, and most recently, a terrarium. I've been dying to make one! I bought the vessel months ago and it's just been sitting empty. I actually did something right this time and bought silicone caulking (i enjoy walking around Home Depot saying "I need caulk". Cause it sounds funny.) so we wouldn't have any water leakage. But that's where my effort ends. I found a tutorial online, but it had too many words, so I just dumped a bag o' rocks on the bottom, then some potting soil, placed my succulents, then added some moss. I guess we'll see how it works out. Tiny squirrel is pretty damn cute though, huh?
Are you a half-assed DIYer like me? What's the last thing you half-ass DIY'd?
P.S. We finally have a Facebook page! Spare a like, you will?

Uh, yup! I half ass everything, in life.
SIMPLE way to dip strawberries: bag o' chocolate chips. Teaspoon coconut oil (at its solid state). Microwave. Dip. Parchment. Eat them bitches.
Who cares what they look like! Chocolate-covered strawberries are DELICIOUS, and will end up in my tummy about 30 seconds after they're set on the table.
I would have never known the ribbon wasn't intentional. I'd say you're good at upholstering! I have a staple gun, which I have used to upholster things before, but apparently I don't pull the fabric tight enough because it always ends up looking terrible anyway.
We would've never known your projects weren't perfect if you hadn't told us! They always look great! I make my chocolate covered strawberries by boiling water and setting a similar sized pot on top of it, filled with chocolate chips (basically, a make-shift double boiler)... otherwise, if I use a microwave, I will ALWAYS burn the chocolate! Either way though, they turn out yummy!
