Chalk It Up

Simple DIY projects are my favorite. Maybe because I'm just not that creative. Maybe because I'm just a tad lazy and I prefer instant gratification. Maybe both. Enter: Chalkboard paint. You slap it on and let it dry. That's all. My kind of DIY, people, my kind of DIY.

Paint a wall, hang some pictures and empty frames, doodle or write quotes  or messages to your family into said empty frames. Such a fun and simple idea!

Of course Martha would go the slightly more complicated route, what with having to use a ruler and all, but I looove the look of this! Especially the different shades of grey.

I LOVE this! A chalkboard menu on the side of a kitchen armoire. This needs to happen.

If you would like to keep your chalkboard surfaces a little more understated, this adorable picture frame come serving tray should do the trick!

And if you happen to be a commitment-phobe, I present to you, chalkboard contact paper!

Would you ever chalkboard paint a wall in your house?

We did it our kitchen on one of the cabinents. I didn't want to ruin the wood so I ended up painting some ugly print contact paper and putting it up. This was before the blackboard contact paper exsisted.

I love the look of chalkboard painted walls, but I don't know if I could commit to doing it. My handwriting is too sloppy to make the cute doodles on it after it's painted! Love the contact paper idea though, so versatile!

I love chalkboard paint! I used to work at a bagel shop that had a nice big chalkboard section for kids :-)
On HGTV I've seen a few shows that use magnetic chalkboard paint, can you imagine?!
