100 Foods To Try Before You Die

Have you seen this list floating around Facebook as of late?

They are, apparently, the 100 things you should eat before you die. Apparently whoever created this list said that most people average around 20. Let's see about that. I've bolded items I've already had and crossed out the items I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole.

1. Abalone

2. Absinthe-  I'm dying to try this.

3. Alligator

4. Baba Ghanoush- I kind of can't believe I haven't had this before.

13. Borscht

14. Calamari

I've tried 37 of them! I tried octopus on my honeymoon, and while I wasn't a huge fan, it really wasn't that bad. It was pretty chewy, and that's why I didn't like it, but it didn't taste bad or anything.

Kangaroo is pretty good actually. When we lived in Australia my mother used to use it in spaghetti bolognaise because it was cheaper (and healthier) than beef. I have eaten 41 of these things too...including snake. Snake was the worst.

I had seen this floating around, but didn't participate! I can't believe I've had 72 of them!! I'm not sure if I'll cross off everything...I'm not sure if I really want haggis and I don't know what a few of them are! Thanks for sharing, this was interesting!

I'm with you, I'm not a huge moon pie fan, Hubs loves them.

Most of the 51 I've tried were against my will when I was a kid. I probably wouldn't try half of that stuff now, haha. Thanks for sharing! :)

I've had 67 of them. I agree with most of what you'd avoid. I have had octopus a couple times and each time it was good. My favorite was the baby ones grilled with a little lime juice. Really good.

Why don't you add venison and pigeon (had this in Europe) for a couple that you crossed off the list? Buffalo burger anyone? Ostrich? I so would not do squirrel or bugs.
