Here she is (plus 3 dogs who insist on being in photos). This is, by far, our favorite set up to date. I fashioned a sort of window seat by putting the chair backs to the side, instead of against the wall. I love how they perfectly flank the windows, as the pups like to perch and watch the birds and squirrels outside (see Sophie).
With the extra space behind the couch I created a cute little sitting nook. Please ignore the messy floor- I had just set everything up and hadn't vacuumed yet. Correction: I was waiting on Mike to get home to vacuum, if we're being honest.
Anywho, to complete the space, I desperately wanted a silver moroccan pouf from Calypso St. Barth's Target capsule collection, but apparently a bunch of Pouf Nazis rushed the store, bought them all, and are re-selling them on ebay for exorbitant amounts of money. I actually saw one going for $300, and they're originally $60! Douche bags.
To complete this tale, I would like to show you a photo of a levitating couch:
Yup, that's exactly what it looks like. After rearranging the couches, we had an extra corner piece that I was going to store in the loft. For whatever reason, little ol' me thought that I would be able to get it up the stairs by myself (Mike was at work and I have no patience). I managed to get it up the first three stairs, and then it got stuck. Between two walls. Not touching the ground. I felt simultaneously embarassed and proud. I just made an object levitate.
Or something like that.

Oh man, can you rearrange our furniture? I am at a serious loss of how to make it work and I LOVE how you made a kind of window seat. Window seats are the best.
I loooooooooooooooooove your throw pillows! So much! They're all different and yet they go together so well. Great job!
Thank you!
@Anni: Luckily we have modular couches, so each piece can be moved around. It's a blessing because we can switch it up however we want, but it's a curse because I could spend *days* rearranging it!
I am in love with your modular couches, where are they from? I had some serious pains trying to get all our furniture to fit into our current living room, so I've been dreaming about something more modular for when we buy a house next year.
Also, that levitating couch is so funny!
Gahh, that pouf would have been so cute but the nook is adorable, love that chair. I'm also LOLing at your floating couch corner. ;)
I like this smaller arrangement better too. Great vision and execution. Now that levitating couch... what was hubs response? haha
Do you have World Market there? They have poufs for around $60 - not sure about silver though. Unless the pouf nazis got to THEM too!
@Morgan: we got them at Rooms To Go, actually! They're leather & come in a few different colors. They're super comfy & the quality is great!
@Nellie: I sent him a cell phone pic while he was at work and he said "oh my god" and started cracking up! I'm so dumb. lol
@Kira: thanks for the suggestion! I'll have to check out World Market!
I love this set up. The window seat with the pillows is just perfect. And where is that blue chair from? I love it! I also love the dogs in this picture...classic.
#1: So smart turning the chairs towards each other!
#2: You are a magician! So so funny, I would have totally tried to get that piece up the stairs myself, too.
Hi, I just found your blog by googling 'couch under window' as that is where we have just placed ours - I was trying to find out if it was some sort of feng shui no no, but after looking at your lay out I think it is a great place - the light flowing into your room from that window is lovely and you can sit on the couch and soak up some sun!
