Video Blog = Vlog. Cue Awkwardness.

All aboard, I am officially jumping on the dialect vlog band wagon!

Who knew how awkward it was to vlog? Holy crap! I've performed on stage numerous times, yet I'm pretty sure I almost cried and gave up during the second take because I got so flustered- and it's not like the damn thing is even live!

Anywho, disclaimer: I was born in Washington State and moved to Alabama when I was 9. This has resulted in an accent that people like to call refer to as "valley girl with a southern twang". Fortunately, I've been able to drop most, if not all, of my southern accent, so now it's just a "weird valley girl who was raised on the west coast but has never actually been to California, so I have no idea why I sound like this" accent.

I'm thinking too much Clueless as a young, impressionable child.  Thanks a lot, Alicia Silverstone.

The first part of the vlog is to say the following list of words: Aunt, Route, Wash, Oil, Theatre, Iron, Salmon, Caramel, Fire, Water, Sure, Data, Ruin, Crayon, Toilet, New Orleans, Pecan, Both, Again, Probably, Spitting Image, Alabama, Lawyer, Coupon, Mayonnaise, Syrup, Pajamas, Caught.

Next, you must answer a list of questions:
-What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
-What is the bug that, when you touch it, it curls into a ball?
-What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
-What do you call gym shoes?
-What do you say to address a group of people?
-What do you call the spider who has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs?
-What do you call your grandparents?
-What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
-What do you call it when the rain falls while the sun is shining?
-What is the thing you change the TV channel with?

Also, one extra I forgot to add: Mike always makes fun of me for pronouncing "milk" as "melk". I have no idea where this came from, but like everything else, I choose to blame my parents. Well, either them or Alicia Silverstone.

Are there any words that I pronounce differently than you?

I actually really hearted your vlog, awkwardness and all :) you're funny and random and I enjoyed it!

I agree with Lindsey...I like the vlog, too! You make me want to do a vlog with saying all those words too. And I have to say, I'm shocked that Sophie wags her tail! I know that sounds funny but Belle just keeps hers curled up on her back in a little ring, no wagging her tail unless her whole body is wagging. Thanks for letting us see the pups!

Sophie wags her tail non-stop! She will wag and wag until she starts panting, it's ridiculous! Belle must get that from Spade- he rarely wags his tail! Scout also does the "full body wag"! Like brother like sister! :)

You are so cute! I loved your vlog! I had completely forgotten that you were born in Washington State too, maybe that's why you didn't sound like you had an accent to me at all!

Yay! So glad you finally did a vlog! Unfortunately, I've been known to say clicker, however, most of the time it's just a remote in our house. My husband calls a shopping cart a buggy which is hilarious to me!

Your pups are adorable!! MORE VLOGS! :D

I know this way after the post, but maybe you still read the comments? Just found your blog today and have been reading a ton of it :)

My grandmother was from England and my mom (her daughter) says "tennies" too- never knew that was a British thing...

Makes me wonder about how when I was a kid and my mom would do my hair in what everyone else called "half up half down", I knew it as a "princess" style. My mom said that's what her mom always called it, but never knew if it was a cultural thing?

@Michelle: yup! Tennis is definitely a British term! I've never heard of that hairstyle being called a "princess style"! Maybe because my dad was the British one, and well, we never talked hair ;)
