The Office.

Mike and I recently got a new desk for our little office area. Ever since we bought it, I've had visions of grandeur for this damn office. Well, it hasn't happened yet. Besides the desk and the aqua chair, the only "cute officey stuff" that I've acquired thus far is an hourglass and a owl post-it pad... both of which I bought yesterday. Office design fail.

Meanwhile, I've got visions of sugar plums fancy offices dancing in my head:

So in love with these cork boards.

My two favorite things. Pink and organized.

Modern Home Office Furniture
Everything about this is so cute and perfect.

An organized home office
I'm kind of dying over all that shelving.

This office feels so clean and calm, the perfect workspace!

Daily System - Black
My OCD is going wild with all the things I could do with this.

So creative and fun! I can see a fashion designer working in this office.

My favorite! This is my dream. Organized and clean, yet colorful.

Are you slacking in the home office department, too?

Funniest Post Ever.

A little over a month ago, I came across New Trophy Wife, which is labeled as a blog for the "not so common housewife. The kind of girl who's new to the world of wife. For the little lady who doesn't always fit into the June Cleaver mold." Written by Yams, New Trophy Wife is a blog that chronicles her hilarious newlywed misadvantures, as well as tounge-in-cheek little nuggets of wisdom. Without fail, practically every new post has me literally laughing out loud. I have a feeling that she and I would be BFFs in real life.

Anywho, for those of you who haven't read her blog, I present to you my absolute favorite post from New Trophy Wife. Read, laugh, then check out her blog.

It's funny, after you get married, you run into 3 groups of people...those who are happy for you, those who wish they were you, and those who don't understand you. My favorite group are the ones who can't understand why you'd ever get married, because they usually have no shame or social courtesy to keep their opinions to themselves. I recently had a young woman ask me why I'd ever get married at 23. She claimed that she would never do that. Marriage wasn't something she believed in and monogamy was not for her. These were her exact words, "I'm more of a Samantha." DIE! I stood there fairly confused, yet intrigued. "Samantha, as in Sex and the City Samantha?" I asked. She answered yes and assured me that her sexual appetite was not meant for the same man night after night

Do you love it? I was in blog heaven. I'm telling you, this thing writes itself. I've always been a magnet for crazies, but this was serious. I once had a stranger on a bus tell me that she had missed her period and was worried about her baby daddy not accepting her spawn, but this, THIS was amazing. This person had actually compared herself to the fictitious Samantha Jones. What a nut bag! Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of Ms. Jones and her escapades, but let's be real. Was Samantha really sexually adventurous, or was she a Slutty McSlutterson? I mean, I always respect a woman who knows what she wants, but if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a slutty ass duck, don't you think? Realistically, she had sex with anything with a penis and a pulse. Actually, there were a few episodes there where she went VAGitarian.

So, sexually adventurous? Really? What was this lady trying to tell me anyway? Was she the Indiana Jones of penis? Did she scale the tallest one? Swing from wiener to wiener? I just don't get it. If you don't believe in marriage, then don't go up to a married person and tell them. I don't walk up to her vagina and tell it to close up shop. See what I'm saying?

It's a respect thing and one of the little adventures in the life of wife I'm sure you'll face. Just deal. Her vajay is probably the size of a station wagon anyway.

Fight the good fight,
Yams

Okay, seriously, how can you not love this girl?
What great blogs have you run across lately?

Living Room Preview!

Since posting my dining room redesign, I may or may not have gotten a few requests to take a peak at the rest of my apartment.

Upon deciding to go coral I've been trying to (slowly, but surely) rid myself of the red and incorporate some coral into our living room. Speaking of, I didn't realize how difficult it was to find coral colored decor, sheesh!

After coming up empty handed on more than one coral-hunting occasion, and being the DIYer that I am, I decided that I would infuse some coral into our room by my damn self!

Without further hesitation, a sneak peek into my living room:

I went to Michael's armed with a 40% off coupon and bought a big ass canvas, a few shades of coral paint, and got to work.

I must say, I'm pretty impressed! It works so well in the room. Oh, and apparently Sophie insists on making an appearance in all of my pictures.

I found that aqua feathered pillow at TJMaxx for $10. Oh snap!

My sad attempt at being an "artsy photographer". It's okay, you can laugh.

Spade decided to get in on photo bombing the action, too.

But Sophie got pissed because he was stealing her spotlight.

Meanwhile, Scout watches squirrels outside of the window, unaware of the Diva Off that's going on a mere 4 feet away.

"Oh, hey momma, what did I miss?" Oh, nothing.

Do you have a hard time finding decor that fits within your color scheme? More importantly, do you have bitchy dogs? Oh, and if you run across coral anything, please send me the link. Thanks in advance.

Top Ten Tuesdays

Ten things I'm loving right this second.
The Thanksgiving edition!

Three Tiered Oven Rack
Williams-Sonoma three tiered oven rack. Seriously, who doesn't need this during the holidays?!

About Mrs. Penguin
Miss Penguin's "Newlywed Thanksgiving Game Plan" via Weddingbee is amazing. It's got an daily timeline and some incredible recipes. Perfect for those who are new to the Thanksgiving cookfest.

Turkey Pops
These turkey-shaped cake pops from Bakerella are so festive and fun! Perfect for families with little ones.

How great is this tablescape? I love this minimalistic metallic take on Thanksgiving as opposed to the usual gaudy orange decor.

Pecan Pie Macarons
Mmmm, pecan pie macarons from Tartelette. Need I say more?

GATHER TOGETHER Autumn Banner
If I was having lots of people over for Thanksgiving, you can bet that this banner from Etsy seller Bekah Jennings would be in my apartment. So cute!

I think this year I'll be following The Pioneer Woman's instructions on roasting a turkey. She is basically the queen of everything, after all.

I'm loving this bronze owl candle from Z.Gallerie. I'm a total sucker for owls.

Sesame Letterpress Harvest Entertaining Platters
These platters from West Elm are almost too pretty to cover with food, don't you think?

I can't get over how amazing this dessert table from Cookie Creatives and Gracie Lou Events is. Perfect for an outdoor fall fest for the kiddies (or not so kiddies).

What are you pining for this Thanksgiving?

Feeling Especially Thankful.

Sometimes I feel like a horrible person. In all honesty, I'm not, I'm well aware that I'm not, but sometimes, well, I just feel like it.

Some of my not-so-fine qualities? I can be a little dramatic, with a bit of a temper. Once you've broken my trust, it's nearly impossible to gain it back. I can hold a grudge like no one's business and I'm really quick to just write people off once they've wronged me. Not to mention, I get bored really easily, and I have the work ethic of a bag of rocks. I have flaws. Lots of them. But it's okay, because I have a lot of really great qualities, too.

So how does this tie into "feeling especially thankful"?

Well, because for a long, long time, I felt like I couldn't really trust or confide in anyone, not even my own family. I always thought that I had to wear some sort of "I'm Perfect Mask" in order for people to really accept me. But I've finally realized that some people won't turn their backs or betray your trust, no matter what. It's been a long, hard journey getting to that place, but here I am, and it feels so, so good to know that there are people in my life who accept me for exactly who I am.

I've never been the type to need (or want) a big group of people in my life. To me, more people has always seemed to equal more drama, of which I do not need. This year has been especially hard for me, but there are two people who have been a sounding board and had my back, no matter what. They are the most trustworthy, honest, non-judgmental people I know, and I'm so thankful to have them in my life.

Mike, fiance extraordinaire: I know I'm biased, but my fiance just might be the most amazing man in the whole wide world. We've known eachother for 12 years and I still look at him and swoon (uhm, how could you not, do you see those eyes?!). He is my perfect balance. He loves and accepts every single part of me, and I honestly could not ask for more in a partner. When I met him at 11, I was completely infatuated. Even at such a young age, I knew that he was something special, and boy was I right!

Teresa, my not-at-all-evil stepmother (pictured right): Holy cow. I don't know what I did to get so lucky in the step-mom department, but I'm glad I did. I can't speak highly enough of her. There is no one on this earth that I feel more comfortable confiding in, and whose advice I trust more, and that's a tall order for someone who isn't technically a "blood relative". If there were more people in the world like my step-mom, the world would be a much better place.

Thank you, Mike and Teresa, for being such amazing people. I can't tell you how much I love and appreciate both of you! My life would be exponentially less awesome without the two of you in it!

I would also like to add that I'm thankful for my kick-ass dad, my amazingly generous mom, my awesome aunt Rhonda, my hilarious and irreplacable friend Suzie, and my 3 adorable pups, Sophie, Spade, and Scout. You all have made my year one to remember!

Who are you most thankful for this year?

I Heart Pantone.

Ever since I took a graphic design class in high school, I've been mildly obsessed with Pantone swatches. Something about those perfectly organized little swatches just meshes so well with my constant obsessive-compulsive need for everything to "go", and I've made it a point to religiously scour their fashion week color report every season.

See? It's just so... organized. Everything is exactly the same.*sigh*

I know, I know, I sound like a crazy person, but judging by all the Pantone products on the market, I'm not the only with a Pantone obsession! See...

Hell, there are even Pantone Chairs!

Do you have an quirky obsessions?
