The year behind, the year ahead.

This month, I've decided to participate in #reverb10. What is it, exactly? Well, the whole point of #reverb10 is to reflect on the past year and focus on the possibilties of the new year ahead. A new prompt will be posted everyday in December to get you thinking about the year behind, and most importantly, the year ahead.

The first prompt:

December 1: Encapsulate the year 2010 in one word. Explain why you’re choosing that word. Now, imagine it’s one year from today, what would you like the word to be that captures 2011 for you?

2010 in one word: Growth. For the first time in my life, I really feel like I have grown so much as a person. I'm so proud of myself, and I can't honestly say that I've ever felt that before. I have faced some of the deepest, darkest corners of my mind and I have finally dragged them, kicking and screaming, into the light. I can't accurately express how good that feels. It's like a huge weight has been lifted off my chest, and I did it all by myself and for myself. It's taken me a long time to realize it, but I am strong.

2011 in one word: Exploration. I want 2011 to be the year in which I do things that I've never done. To go places I've never gone and see things I've never seen. To embrace the world with wreckless abandon.

Are you participating in #reverb10? What word would you like to capture 2011?

yay.. more players! I chose "stable" for my word for next year. I think I'm done with growth and change for awhile. Cheers to next year's exploration!
